Sorry for highjacking the thread but does anyone know where to source new tie bars? the thread on mine has all but vanished and with everything else being replaced and re-bushed I will need it set up correctly.

Cant help with why your tie bars are different both of mine are the same.

The main difference is in the size of the bushing on the chassis which is determined by where it came from: Cortina or Granada. Different sizes and fittings. The back bit is IIRC a TVR bit. To be honest I would check with TVR first. as that might be the easiest option. The bits are getting hard to get.

Matt,
Can't Help - agree with SH.
Andy,
On the racer the threads got shot blasted - doh! so the lads ground the threaded bit out, sourced bolts of the same thread from a local fastners factors, turned the heads off and welded them into the tubes. Job done.

welding bolts in place, would they be as strong ? wow seems like a great idea would that work with the leading link at the front as the thread on mine is bad

Think I will give the factory a call and go for the easier, if not far more expensive route of new ones.

Matt, I think the rear ones were as Tas said welded into a tube anyway, the fronts are threaded bar so welding a bolt on would be a lot less stronger I would imagine. I think that the fronts are standard ford, and as Steve say's the rears are TVR specific, I just wondered if anyone other than the factory might be remanufacturing them.

Cheers,

Andy
