Purchased on impulse a lovely looking mechanical wind watch from Mappin & Webb in Edinburgh last week whilst away on business. Wore it yesterday for the first time and it gained 25 minutes in 12 hours !! My old school timex keeps time better than that !! Should I reject it and ask for my money back. Its the most I have ever spent on a watch and very very disappointed.

That's very bad! Even my £10 Chinese watch only gains 1.5 minutes a day.

Definately not working as its supposed to. We've got 2 different masterpiece watches and both are within +- 10 secs per day

I may have had an eye on these myself, was it one of the 2 Retrograde styles? If so which one did you go for?

They were heavily discounted and a great deal, however sold new and should be running perfectly. Mappin & Webb are part of the Goldsmith Group so you should be able to take it to one of these outlets if easier for you?

That's a crazy amount of gain- probably a tangled/stuck hairspring. Take it back!
