How high to rev my chim
Discussion
Routinely 4k or 4.5k. If you're pushing on you can take it up to 5k but don't do it on every single gear change. You get very little advantage going over 5k, if you're in a race and need every last bit of performance you can wring out of it, the optimum change up point is slightly over 5.5k although you get very little advantage from the last few hundred rpm. If you hold it over 5.5k you risk the lifters pumping up, also since you will have the preserpentine front end you'll find the wear on the distributor drive increases very quickly past this point. You should never deliberately take it over 6k for any reason, although mechnically it will survive about 6.5k before it goes bang the wear and tear increases dramatically at these revs.
