I have just spent loads of time photographing and describing a box & leather case for an Omega Speedmaster that I lost years ago, and then they tell me I can't list it because it's :

" An empty branded box, bag, tin or other container that could be potentially used to hold and sell a similar or identical product. "

Who'd have thought that empty boxes would be banned from sale!

Someone who has lost their box
Someone who bought the watch second-hand and didn't get the box
Someone who had the box stolen while they were at work, wearing the watch
Someone who...

If that's what you honestly thought then perhaps I can interest you in a bridge I've got for sale. Currently in London but once you buy it you can have it shipped anywhere you want...

Perhaps you need to concern yourself with what you think, and why. There are several plausible reasons for wanting a watch box.

You know that the box any half-decent watch comes in isn't the same as the box a toaster comes in, don't you?

It's a totally reasonable thing to try and sell, and the ebay rule is reasonable in itself too (prevents the 'BUY MY XBOX box' scams), just a shame they don't make sense together.

Im in.

I'll send you a cheque by return.I have added extra for the shipping. Can you refund me the difference please, by Western Union? Should be about £5K, hopefully.

Thanks.

I've bought boxes to make up sets before. I've sold them to collectors as well.

Interesting, I was wondering what to do with a Rolex box and cardboard sleeve I have spare.

Genuinely a spare, I bought an Airking from Badminton Horse Trials last year, the AD gave me the watch in a green Rolex box with all packaging/sleeve etc. He then said they would post paperwork and valuations on to me as they dont take certificates etc to shows for the obvious security reasons. Two days later, as promised, all papers and books arrive special delivery along with another Rolex box and sleeve.

If e-bay don't allow ads for them, where would be the best place to sell, and do these things actually sell for much ?

(sorry for the thread hi-jack by the way)

If the box is the large red leather type, let me know, i may be interested.
I have a bond seamaster & the box has been in storage for a while & looks a little the worse for wear, so am looking for a replacement.

As much as it's inconvenienced the OP, I think it's a great policy by eBay - prevents some poor sod paying thousands for a fake watch in a genuine box!
