Having had an elise for the last 3 years, i'm thinking of changing - its had to get a child seat in it. The car needs to be used most days so reliability is key. i'm also interested in running costs. Thanks
The more they get used, typically the more reliable they are.. and that can be VERY reliable.
MPG - 22-25 cruising.. down to about 12 if you're caning it..
Servicing - about £400 every 6000 miles.
Insurance - less than you'd think vie places like Sunninghill
Other - allow for £1000 a year for odds and ends that may occur.
Cheers
Matt.

After some lengthy discussions about the cost of ownership with the wife I decided to do some maths and calculate cost per mile on our 4.0.
To be fair I included everything from tax and insurance through warranty purchase and cleaning equipment to fuses etc. Of course including servicing, so really every single penny spent on keeping the car.
Cancelling out insurance because yours will be different and on completing just over 3.5k miles mine works out at 75p per mile.
Obviously the more you drive it the reletively cheaper it becomes to run.

Stuff the costs, just do it you will never look back.

If you're moving from an Elise to Chimaera, i'd make sure that you get one that's had a suspension upgrade, otherwise I think you may be dissapointed with the handling. I had 2 MkI Elises before the 500.
As for cost per mile, really depends on how many miles you do doesn't it? So if you only do 2000 pa and have a service each year it's going to bump the costs up isn't it. just my 2penneth.
The Elises were so cheap to run, except when i blew one up! Oops.

Not too many miles though and I did buy a 2 year warranty last year, also had to have a set of rear AVO's and a large service etc. It was more than I expected but worth mentioning.
PS. I negelected to tell Mrs. .Mark of this information and still maintain in discussions with her how wonderfully cheap it is
