I'm getting married this year and considering this watch as a present for my best man:

http://www.christopherward.co.uk/men/view-chrono/c...

Does this seem a reasonable choice? Not sure he'll wear it too often, but hopefully will enjoy it as an occasional dress watch. From the little I know I gather the quartz is more suitable for that sort of use? Any recommended alternatives?

Also, it mentions a gift box as a £25 extra, does anyone know if there's a reasonable normal box or is the gift box a necessity for what is a gift I'm hoping will last a while?

Thanks.

CW watches have a good reputation here. The quartz movement is good enough (albeit considered less authentic than a mechanical movement) but I doubt you'll find anything else as elegant in the price range.

In my opinion Tan Leather is nice but not to everybody's taste consider this one in the sale so cheaper and steel goes with everything.

The normal box it comes in is very nice not worth the extra imo

Good to know the normal box is up to scratch.

Think I'll take your recommendation and go with the C7... suspect I may end up buying one for myself too!

Thanks, much appreciated. smile

If it's a dress watch you prefer to get him then I wouldn't go with a steel bracelet i) they are not to everyones taste and ii) a stainless steel dress watch on a black leather strap goes with a suit so much better.

I did go for the C7 for him.

It arrived today - the standard box is what a pleb like me would have thought the deluxe version would have been!

Also included a £25 off voucher so I'm going to treat myself to a C3!

I've had a C3 (black face with tan strap) for 18 months now and worn it everyday.
It is still an excellent watch and has had no faults. I've boght a solid stainless steel strap for it but it needs some minor adjustment to fit perfectly so I'm going to buy a dremmel mini drill and do a bit ot adjustment so the strap to it fits perfectly.

When I got the watch I wrote a review with pictures and posted it on here.
