Ive just got my 400 back from Peninsula after having had the steering colum changed, amongst other things.

Problem is that the steering wheel is now off centre when going in a straing line and I know this is going to annoy the heel out of me.

I have very little mechanical knowlegdge and dont know if this is a simple fault to rectify, or if it needs to be done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Any guideance you can give will be greatly recieved.

The wheels need to be straight , fore and aft , and the spline coupling at the steering rack end will need to be adjusted , as the triangular column end does not allow enough adjustment . Same thing happened with mine , as with the wheel bolts . Peninsula sorted the column for me .

Thats a bit naughty, I would of expected them to have made sure that it was correct.

Assuming the wheel alignment is ok, straighten up the front wheels, remove the horn push and undo the large nut in the centre of the steering wheel, lift it off the splines and locate it back so its central again, replace the nut and horn push. Should be easy but ive not had to do it yet!

Take it back and get them to sort it
Or if you live along way from them ring them up and get them to send someone out to sort it.
It would drive me mad if the wheel was not straight. From what i hear they are a good company and i think they will sort it ASAP

Would go with Andys suggestion first - may just be that having set the car up correctly the wheel ended up of centre - had it on several cars in the past.. simple fix - but also worth a call to Richard to be sure what they did.

Problem with the horn push end , is it is a hexagonal shaft , which then goes in to the collapsable strut and then becomes triangular . Does not allow a "fine" enough adjustment , hence the suggestion to adjust at the rack end .

I spoke to Richard @ Peninsula yesterday and hes agreed to send someone down next week to put the probelm right as not only is the wheel of centre, but the whole column is as well.
