Lakenheath are inviting us to take part in the American Air Day at Duxford again this year, on Friday 20th August 2010

American Air Day showcases the work of the United States Air Force in Europe, and in particular, the Third Air Force, partially based in the United Kingdom. This family-friendly day comprises a rich mix of flying and ground-based displays.

This fantastic day acknowledges the historic link between Duxford and the United States Air Force that dates back to 1918 and is represented today by the stunning American Air Museum in Britain which is based on site at Imperial War Museum Duxford.

The day comprises a rich mixture of flying and ground-based displays, including fly-pasts by many of the USAFE aircraft based in East Anglian, flown from RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath.

On the ground, USAF personnel will be showcasing their work in the UK as well as explaining some of the more intricate details of their aircraft, equipment and their missions.

As before, the day will also feature displays by Duxford-based historic aircraft, acknowledging the historic link between Duxford and the United States Air Force that dates back to 1918 and is represented today by the stunning American Air Museum in Britain.

Please note that all flying is subject to weather, serviceability and operational requirements.

Please add your name to the list below if you are interested in attending: A little bonus is that we are invited guests and therefore have half price admission, at £9.95... Please note you need to be pre-booked on this event for security reasons, there is no TBA as we will be asked to provide details to the USAF of vehicle, registration names of passengers and dates of birth.

Vehicles will be parked on grass and you choose from protected or public can have a sit, get close etc, entrance is between 8:00 and you must be in place by 10:00 no late entry will be allowed and you can NOT leave until the public have left at 18:00 as no vehicle movements are allowed.

Last Year we met for Breakfast at the Comfort Cafe first... May as well do that again if everyone is up for it?

We would be planning to leave the cafe by 0930 again on the 20th so if you plan to have Breakfast please give yourself plenty of time as we HAVE to be at Duxford at the latest by 1000hrs. Anyone not having breakfast please meet at the cafe by 0915 with the intention of leaving by 0930.
