woohoo, she still works :)

Hoorah, she lives
Finally finished off the latest round of fettling and went for a (brief) brmmmmm Mmmmmm, she still works and what's more started first turn of the key, even with my old iffy starter motor, that's next! Best finish my reconstruction of the window frame now, was bit drafty without it........
Time to celebrate
happy wedging

Thanks all
Hopefully I'll manage further than 5 miles on my next outing......
Re. the wing mirrors, I haven't a clue I'm afraid to say, not sure if they're original or not. I got a bag of wing mirrors in her boot (along with other junk) when I bought her and went with two matching ones. Which reminds me, must fix interior one back, kicked it off whilst I had head down footwell and feet in air!

Dave - I know that this sounds like a silly question. But I don't suppose that you still happen to have the bag of wing mirrors do you? If so, would you possibly be able to have a look for me and see if you could find another 2 matching mirrors for me? I only ask because the ones on my Tasmin are mounted in about the same place as yours and all they seem to do is falll down....
Thanks.

Hello again
I'll have a dig when I'm next in the garage, though I seem to recall there aren't any more pairs though, just random ones. How's about Europa Specialist Spares:
https://secure.visav.co.uk/avshop/products.asp?getcats=true&page=2&cat=16&scat=79&sscat=&sword=
Bottom ones on this page look quite similar to mine, I think.......been contemplating replacing mine as the lenses/mirrors aren't exactly great.
cheers

Whilst on the subject of headlights. This morning I used mine for the first time in ages in the dark, and unfortunately discovered a fault. The near side headlight works perfectly with dipped and main, but the offside just gives a faint glow whether on dipped or main. Does this sound like a dodgy earth, or, as is usual with electrics, could be any one of a number of different problems?

Yes. Though it could also be just a knackered connector putting so much resistance into the circuit that the filaments can't take enough current.

Perhaps I should clarify as I was a little confusing+slightly drunk
The pods do not come up when switched to dipped.
Main beam works when flashed (column switch pulled towards you) at any time.
Main beam works when latched on (column switch pushed away). But only when main switch is in dipped position (correct). In sidelight position, main beam doesn't work.(also correct) So the switch is obviously kind of working.
I haven't perused the wiring yet as it was dark. All may become clear when I do. Just struck me as a bit of a weird one!
thanks

hmmm, turns out it was the wire between the main light switch and the column main beam one. Connector on one end was pretending to look OK but I whipped out my device and poked and proded and found it was defective. Out came my long hot device, splurged some hot shiny stuff onto it and up they came

PS That is s'posed to mean, one connector had dodgy connection so I resoldered, hope that's where all your minds went..........
