Saw this on CNN.com this morning:

http://europe.cnn.com/2002/TECH/03/22/one.pedal.car/index.html

The mind boggles! What happens if I want to brake gently - the car would probably accelerate, but I suppose this would be OK because I would then need to brake hard and the system would respond

Oh dear, both pedals can be used hard and soft depending on the driving. Eg lightly scrubbing speed prior to a corner, then balancing the throttle through the corner. How does the car know which I want? The pressure and foot movement is the same. He also states its down to people using their heel more for braking. Certainly the last car I had if you did that you immediatly locked the brakes I used toes and the heel never left the floor. (heel toe?)

I think this system will only work on standard cars rather than sports. I know I would feel that more control was being lost.

What's wrong with heeling and toeing of you can't be arsed to move your feet? (Assuming you don't have size 12 clodhoppers like yours truly - makes it a bit tricky in most cars I've tried )

If you straighten your leg and press down with your heel, the car will break.

I bet it will. That's where brakes are supposed to come in...
