Spotted this on the A3 at Guildford today.

Truly awful.

Surely SOMEBODY must know one of these guys..

I wonder what the conversation would like :

"Is that an M3?"
"No it just has model badge stuck on but it's a 318d, isn't it cool?"
"No"
"I think it's cool!"

Other person walks off and deletes his number from phonebook.

When I worked in the BMW dealer network we had a white 3 series on the forecourt, small engine, that just wouldn't sell so I swapped the alloys, pretty plain ones, for some 16" cross spokes from another car, fitted an M Tec steering wheel and, dare I say, fitted just under the Amber front wing indicators a M style badge on either side. Then the car was parked in a strategic position so passing traffic could see it and it was sold the same day.

It's no more than car manufacturers do all the time.

The fact that it's a 318d notwithstanding, is it wrong of me to like that paint/sticker job? On an M3, for example...

I think that it would only look good on a track car with some more stickers. On a 318, it looks like it does. On an M3, it would look tacky.

So you guys know those stick on wing vents posted earlier? Today I spotted the evolution of them, actual vents inserted into a cut non E46 M3 wing:

I know someone who did this. He runs his own bodyshop.

The car?

E46 318 touring. confused

ETA: It was his own car, not a customers.

I'm annoyed by this thread because until seeing it, I can't say I'd really noticed this - now I see at least one badly over-badged example every day. This morning was an E60 530d or similar with an M5 badge on the back. There's something mildly amusing about playing with these muppets when I'm in the M5.

A bit of a treat today. It's not often I see an M640d on the road.
