Nice new video, also check out the very colourful photos of the latest Lurssen superyacht.

Bargain at $1,000,000 per week to charter compared to her sister ships that are almost 30% more!

Am I right in thinking that Lurssen are the rolls royce builders in this market, and it takes many years to get a build slot?

There are a few biggies, B&V, Lurssen, Oceanco etc..

they often will start a boat on spec, and someoneone will pick up the hull and slot.

The original quote was the Rolls-Royce of ship builders, Rolls-Royce doesn't build ships it does design them though.

Actually building the ship is the low value, labour intensive with minimal differentiation. The expensive bits of the ship are the propulsion system, steering gear, stabilisers, control and electrical systems a of course the design itself.

Hence RR will design you a ship full of RR equipment and then you can take it to the ship yard of your choice to build it.

It's a pity that UK ship building never cottoned onto this as a business model. RR marine formerly Vickers is based in Scandinavia.

I miss seeing the pictures of the big tubs.

When do they start to come out to play again and do they lay up over the winter or something?

Not many are laid up over winter, some go into a yard period but a large number go over to the Caribbean in search of winter sun..

I guess for purposes of this thread not many people are on holiday to take pictures of them either.

MC, a member of PH installed all the AV bits on that.

Haven't been to Town this evening, may pop by tomorrow.

Nice shot! Can you PM it to me for YachtForums?
Better still... A PH member is the Yacht Manager for this yacht. (ACE) wink

Hi all,

Spotted 'Tatoosh' on a recent trip.

Very impressive, complete with helicopter too.

When sitting at a bar later in the day, we saw her cruise past, helicopter blades attached

Returned not long after minus the Helicopter to the mooring.

I love the look of Tatoosh, she is the sister ship to Le Grang Bleu that I posted on the previous page. I understand they were built together for brothers.

I can't be the only one that finds Rising Sun one of the least inspiring yachts around...Looks like it was designed on Sketchup for christ sakes. I cannot belie it's only 10 years old; if I'd been told it was a cruise ship from the 70's that's been converted I'd believe you.
