If the crew offer to play 5 a side, prepare to get hammered.

Did you take the picture while lurking in the alley to avoid being zapped by Abramovich's anti-pap lasers? hehe

Haha no, we have guests ourselves so was hiding from them. It's an impressive bit of kit though...

Wouldnt surprise me if they were good at 5 a side, they must have a decent sized crew to pick from!

They have been known to turn up with the odd 'ringer' now and again.

The 100m Sailing Yacht 'A' is getting under construction. Those massive masts are an amazing bit of kit.

I think it looks ghastly; beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What a foul thing. Way too much freeboard amongst other hideous design ideas. Proof that money does not equal taste!

Car ferry with wind turbine towers on top.

Got a name for it? Interested in the history of it.

The artwork on board is said to be worth more than the yacht.

If you want to rob it, I know where the keys are kept. biggrin

If you want to market it, or build a superior one, I too may have an In.

Probably not 60 million to build but Sarissa yacht is in the Whitsundays currently - another one of Murdochs boats. Apparently built for 'the family' to go sailing and using as an everyday boat !! OK !!

Agreed. With what that cost, that was the best they could come up with? Horrendous.

Looking at it, is it designed so that the whole stem roller, anchor the lot can be removed and stowed below / on shore if racing her?

The straight(vertical) stem means getting the anchor down without hitting it is pretty awkward; I'm at a loss why NavArcs have seemingly no imagination or commonsense these days, straight stems make sense when designing for a race rule but they suck for cruising practicality.

I am pretty sure looks will have been the over riding factor here. Practicality goes out the window a bit when your paying 4 people to run the deck... Let them struggle.

And at a guess the whole system will fold back and away as is normal with offset anchors now. Would not surprise me if they could extend it out to clear the bow aswell for deploying and recovery
recovery.

For me the submarine anchors are the way forward for this type of vessel, despite the loss in practicality and the slightly strange look, clears the deck nicely.

I agree not a pretty anchoring system but they were probably more concerned with working out how to turn the children's bedroom into a swimming pool !!

I have sailed a boat with a system like that. The complete arm folds back in to a hatch under the teak by hydraulics.
Looks crap when out but a neat idea and when you have a carbon fiber hull, important.

How about White Pearl then? 100m carbon fibre masts!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't 'White Pearl' and 'S/Y A' one and the same?

'White Pearl' was the project name before being officially announced at 'S/Y A' last week.

Both 'A' and 'S/Y A' were scribbled by Phillipe Stark, and both are owned by Andrey Melnichenko.
