Can anyone recommend a good independent Cartier repairer please? Or is returning to Cartier a better option?

Many thanks.

Tank Francaise gents automatic. It appears to have got water in it (moisture on hands and under crystal) and not running.

A local repairer told me he could probably get an ordinary ETA movement that would fit. However someone on a watch forum has pointed out that if I do that it will not be a Cartier branded movement and it will devalue the watch.

I must confess to being a bit hacked off that a relatively expensive watch has got water in it in the first place. For that reason and the potential devaluation issue I am minded to return it to Cartier.

But I am open to other suggestions.

Cartier.....
Thank you.

Are you saying that because of the devaluation issue or because it shouldn't have water in it?

Sorry Manks,

It'll need to go back to Cartier, as the water will probably have stained the dial/hands and corrosion may have started on the movement. Cartier do not supply parts such as dials, etc. I wouldn't let a local watchmaker try and make a non standard movement fit into a £3k watch.
Is the watch covered on your household insurance? It may be covered against accidental damage...

Hope this helps.
