Are you sure that Sport sticker is not an aftermarket add on

It just doesnt look period next to the Escort badge , Ive never seen this style of logo on a 70s Ford , Would be worth posting in the Ford AVO section

lovely car all the same , and the value is going through the roof , with twin cams easily topping 20k

Very nice, good work. My first car in 1977 was a 1300 mk 1 Escort Sport, in Sebring Red smile
Mine did not have the Sport stickers, i am pretty sure it was written in the badges, but it was some time ago now!
Yes, they are rare, hang on to it.

'Sport' stickers are exactly correct - my uncle had a metallic green one back in the day. cool

You should also have a rev counter mounted in a pod on top of the dashboard, to the right of the steering wheel. Only the Sport models had this. nerd

And on a more serious note, I take it from the cost that you paid for the work to be done rather than restore yourself? I've been there myself; I know how expensive it is. Any interior shots?

Fantastic!
I learned to drive in a Mk2 Escort and after having a look through the clasifieds I'm stunned at what Mk1's and 2's are going fom now.

So you must be including the cost of the car in your 14k then? Or maybe Escort stuff is just expensive. Or both perhaps.

Looks lovely.

What colour was it originally....?

I guess Sport's have become quite rare now along with early 1300GT's. I looked at a few Sport's and GT's as a first car some 30 odd years ago, but the insurance quotes were a bit high smile
Funny though that after only a few years, I was able to afford the significant sum of £260 per year to insure my first Mk1 RS2000 at age 19 smile oh happy days......

I doubt it.
Vista Orange didn't become available on Escorts until mid 1974....effectively only the last 6-7 months of Mk1 production.

Looks soperb , you have done a great job of restoreing it and i to cant beleive the money that is being asked for early escorts. For about a week in approx 1980 or 81 i owned what must have been one of the very first 1300 Sports , bought from a work friend of my family . It was red which from memory was its original colour , but i dont have any other details of it . How i wish i had been able to keep it

Have you any pictures? Yes values are going up all the time! Better than money in the bank! Someone has already offered me 13k but its staying with me
