Aye that spider is stunning! I really like the wheels and faired in headlights, not seen them before.
thanks, wheels are Cromodoras that were an option at the time I believe. All the Duettos and S2's have the headlamp covers. problem is the original ones were very yellowed & broken & all the after market ones don't fit exactly...they rub the paint off in a couple of places so I've had to improvise with a couple of well places bit of U shaped rubber

It just looks right doesn't it.
It also sits on lower springs...looks more 'aggressive' I guess. I like it, other don't!

The Spiders I drove proved to be great cruisers and not so much agile sporters. Does the lowering work in favour of handling?

My old local service centre used to have an S2 in fairly regularly. It had alloy wheels on too, possibly the five spokes I can't remember. It was black and had been lowered but not slammed. Looked absolutely amazing but still used to rub tyres on the arches all over the place.

don't get any rubbing, the exhaust was a nightmare as one of the silencers was very low - even at a crawl it used to hit speed bumps. An Alfaholics s/steel system has cured that!

can't say I push it that hard but it feels very composed along twisting A & B roads, feels pretty flat . 40mph feels like 80 so that helps.

The guy who services it borrowed it for a couple of days & says its night & day vs a regular set up Spiders of other customers of his. I'd like to try another for comparison.

Its also had the carbs properly set up & was putting out 136bhp on the rolling road which I was very pleased with

I prefer the S2, S3 en S4: they look so right and elegant. Torqey Nord engine remains unmatched in terms of 60s soundbyte and performance. Dreamgarage - if PH will ever ask me - will have a 2 litre S2, a 1750 GTV coupe and a fast roadspec Giulia. Which leaves 55K for the daily hack and a tracktoy Caterham.

There's definitely room to improve the Spider's handling. Lovely feedback and feel and the gearchange quality is great but the back is very loose on a standard set up. Well telegraphed but inclined to slide out without being asked. I'd love an S2. Top down, great looking, punchy twin cam, just about the perfect sportscar and it sounds like you've got yours that bit closer, george123. thumbup

thanks guys, its a great little car- despite a lot of pain to get it to where it is due to the people who did the renovation, but thats another story....

dinkel - thats a great choice, I'd also like a 1750 GTV next, although it would be a choice between that & a 1300 GT as I love the delicate looks. Or a Fulvia Zagato 1600 in dark blue with red interior....bit of a theme there.

Dream garage would also have a Maserati Ghibli SS & a Shamal.....

that Fuliva Zagato is beautiful! Navy blue with the tobacco interior is amazing....Red for the Spider, tobacco for the Fulvia...cool

The interior isn't in leather: its nubuck! Looks like Sophia Loren has sat on it: uber lovely.

V4 is on 4 Solex carbs which make it sing > this 1.3 goes without flaws and is turbine like.

George123 - what did you do for the interior of that Spider - are they slip on seat covers, or did you get the seats re-covered. Assuming you got them re-covered, who did you use, and were you happy with the job / price.

Many Thanks

Hi. They were recovered in red leather, very nicely done. The person who did the restoration used someone locally in the Teeside area. I think I have their card and invoice at home.... I'm out the country for a week so PM me in a week or so and I'll dig it out if it's of interest.

I've posted pics before but this is the Spider at Le Havre just an hour ago after having (almost) faultlessly taken us around France, Switzerland and Italy over 2,500 miles.
