Any suggestions for local places near Goodwood. Plan was to drive down early Sunday then leave the car and get a taxi or walk to the event.

Appreciate most will be booked Saturday buy hoping Sunday night might be better

Stayed here once: www.swaninn.com Brilliant, but always fully booked during the big events.

All other times we stayed here: www.trooperinn.com Very good too.

Agreed about the best being booked early - this is a good one only 5 minutes away.

Thanks guys. All those mentioned are booked but there are a few available in Chicester. What are peoples thoughts on a hotel here? Would it be easy to get a bus/train to the park at 7:30 Sunday morning or would it be carnage ?

No public transport from the town, but if you're in the centre, you can walk it in about 30 minutes.

There's a Travellodge at Fontwell that's full but the one in Worthing has space

You could try the Robin Hood at Shripney which has a large hotel complex on the side,

Or we may be doing B & B again one double & one generous single with room for two on camp beds, All so at shripney with shuttle bus to FOS

Approx 6 miles,

Shuttle bus is ours which we run from the B & B Normally for ease we drop off at the FOS at 7.45 as we find much after that it turns to grid lock,

Sounds good. I would be interested in a room for Sunday for me and my Dad. Presume there is a pickup from FOS in the evening too?

Very short distance from all major parts of the estate. It's in a charming village with an excellent pub (The Fox Goes Free).

Not a problem, worth going there for a weekend anyway as some of the walks are fantastic and it is a lovely piece of country with some interesting history.
