Long shot: Any PH canoeists locally?

Just curious really... I've vowed to finally have a go at canoeing this year having said for ages that I fancied trying it. The Herts Canoe Club in Broxbourne looks quite active and seems to do a good range of discplines (from gentle touring to slightly insane looking waterfall jumps!)
