Got nothing on tomorrow and haven't been for a proper drive in a while. Setting out in Huddersfield, I was thinking of heading out through holmfirth to Crow Edge and onto Woodhead pass, then drop down on to Snake road/pass eventually coming out in Glossop.

It's at this point that I don't really know where to head next. Was thinking of working my way across to the north coast of wales, Llandudno maybe (not a clue why). Then working my way back.

Does anyone have any suggestions for better routes to take to get there or just a completely different route. Can be anywhere within 100-150 miles of huddersfield really, North/South/East/West doesn't really matter, just whatever would be the most interesting route, both road and sights wise.

If your going from Glossop southish I'd pick the A5004 up at Whaley Bridge to Buxton, then turn right on to the cat n piddle.

If your due a full day driveing I'd sack the Snake etc.
Take the 62 or main roads to Bradford then A650 to keighley and A65 to Skipton.
Then head up into the Dales. Kettlewell onto Ayesgarth and then Hawes for dinner.
Take in Ribblehead and then Settle for a cuppa and back to Bradford on the A65.

Well I did go to snake pass and now wish I hadn't as it was rammed with people going at 30mph. Managed to get around 3 or 4 safely but once you get stuck behind a massive lorry then you've no chance of getting passed safely. Ladybower was impressive though.

Just as you enter glossop I hit a left and some of the back lanes around there were brilliant, if a little hairy. They were completly empty and nearly all were national speed limit. However, some really shouldn't be as they had some big dips in them which nearly totalled my suspension eek

Eventually ended up in Buxton and took the cat and fiddle towards Macclesfield as I wanted to be a nosey bugger and check out some of the houses/cars around alderley as I've never been around there before. Saw a couple of nice F430's and some very smart houses.

Day had to be cut short due to problems back home unfortunately.

In short, stay away from snake pass as it seems by what is said above and from my experience today that there is no such thing as it being quiet on there...perhaps at 2am grumpy
