Multi-response required: Please respond to one of the wine statements and one of the beer statements.

'Online' includes supermarket delivery as well as specialist suppliers.

I am a member of TheTimes wine club, so I buy online from them, there have been a couple of faux pas where I did not agree with their assessment of the tasting, but on the whole extremely happy, would never buy beer online as I do not drink it.

I can't recall ever buying wine or beer online.

Is there a reason for that?

You don't want to because you pick them up when you visit a supermarket?

You feel uncomfortable ordering these products online?

Can't imagine buying beer online, unless maybe for highly specialised Breweries - but generally I only drink 'mainstream' beers.

Why? Do you order any other food products online?

Beer is 'safer' in that aspect than wine, isn't it? As you buy a known brand.

You are missing an important option, "I have never, but would consider buying online"

It's quite handy to get a few bottles of (known) wine with the usual delivery, especially if it bumps you into a free delivery. Non-alcoholic beers are easier to find, too. And, you don't need to carry them.

I always buy wine online from the various clubs, societies and specialized dealers.

Beer is 99% bought from supermarkets, unless its specialized stuff (St Peters - Suffolk for e.g.) then i go direct.

If I do an online shop, I'll add in the booze. I would buy wine online, some of the wines I like aren't easy to get, but I'm not sure I'd bother with beer.

I get a case of mixed reds from them every three months, I've not had anything that hasn't been at least good. I've bought a few odds and ends from them separately too. Now they phone up every few months to offer me some interesting cases based on what I've bought before, but I keep having to decline because increasing my wine consumption is at odds with ongoing attempts to lose some lard.

I generally buy wine from Virgin Wines, they seem to do OK with choice and price and I'm getting to know what I like.
I put £20 a month into their 'wine bank' scheme, and every 3 months they add another £20 and I'll spend the £80 on a case of mixed wines which are good enough to share with friends, but not so expensive I feel I'm wasting really good stuff on people that won't appreciate it.

Anything special I'll make a trip to a small specialist near my parents.

As for beer, I live 20 mins walk from this place and pop in to get a few bottles every now and again.

I voted for would consider buying both online. I usually buy in in the supermarket when I'm there.

Occasionally buy wine online. Probably around 80% of my wine purchasing is done online. I just don't buy that often these days hence 'occasionally' not 'regularly'

As for beer, same again really, but I don't go out of my way to get that and probably wouldn't unless it's something special. I only really drink abbot ale, corona or budvar and it's not very regularly so Tesco direct does me fine.

I don't do wine and ticked never on the beer. I prefer to drink socially in the pub so rarely drink at home, though I occasionally make an impulse buy in the supermarket.

If it is price competitive, I would consider buying online, but that would probably mean in buying in bulk. Which would result in me drinking more.... That would be bad!

I buy wine online from The Wine Society or Majestic because you get a far greater variety of decent wines than the supermarkets offer.

Beer I buy in cases at the supermarket but only occasionally when they have a deal on the type I like.

I tend to taste wines then buy by the case at the best price I can find, either in a shop or online. Same goes for en primeur as well. As for beer, I intend to start buying that online too, as there's a whole range of beers available which don't feature in the supermarket.

Tactical Nuclear Penguin being a prime example.
