License Downgrade / Upgrade question

Last year I upgraded my speed license to a race one. However as I am unlikely to race this year, plus I need a medical to retain the race license. So if I drop to a speed this year, can I go back to the race license next year without retaking the ARDS?

I think so. IIRC you have a 3 year window before having to redo ards test.
