Hi guys, quick question, my daughter is home next week from OZ, and she is a veggie, no probs.

Trying to buying a Nut Roast, but it seems they only come out at crimbo, does anyone know where you can get one (mail order) at this time of the year.,

I would ask the OH to make one, but you know how difficult that is.

there are way more imaginative veggie dishes than a crappy nut roast.

one example being filo parcels filled with caramelised onion, goats cheese & mushrooms in cream sauce.

...and if the OP's daughter doesn't like goats cheese, mushrooms and creamy sauces?
I ask as Mrs Noise is a veggie who doesn't like those items, she does however love roasted nuts.
It also means you can have a proper roast dinner for meatatarians and vegetarians with the only difference being the protein (oh, and the gravy smile). Super.

At the moment I can't think of any supermarket who does a nut roast. They all have at various times in the past but it seems to have fallen out of favour.

They are dead easy to make as an earlier poster has indicated. Bashing up some nuts in a bag with a rolling pin is also quite a satisfying task.
Top tips:
don't use ready chopped nuts, the texture is too homogenous, bash 'em up yourself, it's fun (see abovesmile).
use a couple of nut types, not just one kind - more interesting flavour/texture. 75% hazels or brazils 25% walnuts works for me,

regards,
Jet
