As per the title. is anyone watching the Freeview HD service that went live in the last few days?

If so, how does it look? What type of Freeview decoder are you using? etc.

Do you mean this?

If so it's not live yet, I think.

I've got the Freeview HD via Humax decoder and a dish. So far 2 channels BBCHD (all the time) and ITVHD sporadically, now I've got used to watching HD it's a big improvement.

Don't you mean you have Freesat?

Freesat is woeful compared to Freeview that has a lot more channels. LuxTV HD is another HD channel but is well dull.

Yep that's the one. i thought it had just gone live. The official website shows it as live in my area.

I think you are watching freesat.

It's live in London and has been for months. I think everyone's waiting for the HD PVR's to come out....assuming the BBC step down from using the no-record tag on the transmissions that is....

Odd that they would prevent recording on freeview as I can record BBC HD on freesat just fine. I am using a Humax freesat DVR.

Just a rumour on some of the PVR sites like The Green Button. For me I'm waiting for a PC card / USB stick before I bother.

I have freesat with 2 HD channels.

What I can't find out is if freesat will be carrying these extra HD channels.

Anyone know?

I can only get BBC HD on my Humax FoxSat. Any idea why? I assume the other you've got is ITV HD?

My 3 year old cheapie-no-name USB stick decodes DVB-T HD, equally my 6 year old PCI Satellite card receives DVB-S in HD as well. Neither device claims HD compatibility in documentation or in the software, it just works. Maybe yours will...?

yes. ITV... when it's on (which is so rare it hardly counts).

Sadly, your stick does DVB-T HD and the service in the UK is DVB-T2. As they only set the standard about a year ago there's no chance.

That sucks, Although I bought my stick in the UK (cheapest one they sold in Maplin at the time - about £35 IIRC) I have only ever used it here in CH. Is there no way you can upgrade firmware on othersticks or add a codec or something...?

Looks like something is about to turn up.... finally:

Although Windows Media Centre can't deal with the T2 encoding, apparently, which makes the whole thing pointless. After waiting all this time, too:

I have Freesat HD and Sky+HD, but if I ever move don't think I'd bother with satellite as on paper Freeview HD seems to have all the channels you could want. Going to be a good few years before it rolled out nationwide though.

Well, DABS (and some others, but they seem the cheapest) have the PCTV stick on preorder.

For an £80 gamble, I've given it a punt. As someone who had one of the very first Nebula Electronics DigiTV pci cards, I'm used to experimenting with these things! Hopefully there'll be some way to integrate it with MCE.
