So, you like The Wire?
New show by the same dude, first episode was last night in the usual US places...
Not seen it yet, but hoping for the best

Huge fan of Wire, and enjoyed Generation Kill, but watched an hour, and I'm afraid I was thoroughly bored waiting for some kind of plot to appear.
Most of all, I don't care for Jazz.
Although I'll try it again on repeat.
I also watched the first one (double-length pilot i think) 6 months ago or more and waited in vain for something to happen, and a reason to watch more....can anyone convince me its worth sticking with? Most of all, I don't care for Jazz.

I also had a lot of problem separating the Wire characters from the people they played in this.
Agree with the gentlemen above.
I managed just over an hour of the first show, then binned it.
By 65 minutes in, I couldn't have cared less if the characters had been nuked from orbit, I'm also not a massive fan of random jazz pieces placed into the plot and the sterotypical British journolist piece was cringeworthy.
Keep it.

I am watching the first ep just now and had to come on here for a second opinion. Am not really feeling it.
After Boardwalk and Sopranos, is normal life too boring for me?
The second opinions confirm my gut thoughts, and I have too much on the hd to stick with four hours of this, even if it does have John Goodman

I don't recall season one of The Wire burning quite this slow, but I'm sticking with it, just in case it does turn into a gripping drama - I always live in hope!
It goes deep, and it goes wide - there are a huge number of characters. My favourite is the Japanese Jazz Aficionado who doesn't know all that much about Jazz. And like The Wire, it tells a story bigger than the one about busting drug lords.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
