Came through Terminal 3 a couple of weeks ago and they have one of the Platinum 40th Anniversary Speedmasters in stock. 1 of 60 examples. Seem to recall it was £46k - yup, forty six grand.

There's gotta be a lot of other more exotic pieces on the market for that kinda cash!

Yep - that would be this one.

Saw this in the Omega dealer in Amsterdam. I had to ask the price twice as I thought I had misunderstood the EUR68k price tag.
Platinum strap , solid gold chronometer inside the face and the back is also solid gold.

How much is the meteorite one in comparison, a few grand?

I wondered what you were waffling on about, so I did a search.

Good God that's amazing.

I now vow to stop buying poor mans tat watches and save for a Speedmaster.

I'm a bit skinny, so I reckon I could go with a 'reduced', anyone got one ?

Well I doubt you'll get a Reduced with that face; it'll be the Professional or nothing.
Personally the Reduced does nothing for me, I have a Triple Date and that's perfect for my (slim!) wrists.

Sorry, I should have been clearer Sneijder! Marvellous though, isn't it?!

Cheers for the heads up on the prive, Stevo.

Don't bother with a reduced. The full sized isn't a big watch and in particular has a slim profile, certainly so by comparison to the Carrera.

Reduced price too though ! 6 month old baby and moving house means I won't be diving to intercept the post for a while. I've flipped all the tat that can be flipped too !

Go used? There are plenty of nice ones around and you'd have no trouble finding an immaculate one for the price of a reduced.

... I was thinking used reduced, as in barely scraping 4 figures. Surely you can't get a passable Speedy Pro for a shade over 1000 ? (Please let it be true !)

Around £1200-1300 is roughly the going rate for a 2nd hand Speedmaster Pro. I would imagine less for one with no B+Ps and/or poor condition but can't say I've seen any for sale like that!

^^^^ What he said. Worth waiting a little longer in my view for a moon watch, particularly if you plan to keep it for any length of time. Your call though, and enjoy it whatever you choose.

The RRP in GBP for the platinum speedy is £53K or it was before the last price rise. It was in the Omega basel 09 mini brochure.

Agree with everyone here, hold out for a Pro.

The reduced isn't bad but you'll always regret it plus its a pretty small watch anyway...

Just remember, ladies speedies are the same size as a reduced...

I have a speedy pro and a reduced. There is absolutely no question which to buy - the pro all of the way. IMO the quality of the reduced is very slightly lacking - the finish doesnt seem as good as the pro, the movement is noisier, the crono doesnt re-set as crisply and little things like that.

We paid £1k for the reduced - new from H Samuel in their sale. My Mrs wears it and likes it though, so thats all that matters.
