I'm looking for an SMP 2254.50 as my first decent watch. Are there any UK watch forums with classifieds I should be looking at other than TZ-UK?

Thanks for any suggestions.

www.thewatchforum.co.uk is pretty good, but you still need 50 posts (not speed posted crap) before you can sell.

Thanks both. Watchuseek seemed to be mostly non-UK sellers who'll only ship 'con US',

edit: the Con US-only BNIB 2254.50 currently on there being an agonising case in point

but I'll keep an eye on there. Will also check out thewatchforum.

Cheers.

Good choice.
I very nearly bought one of these two years ago, before they were discontinued, it was a toss-up between a steel/black 2254.50 or the black face titanium version (2231.50)....... eventually the titanium version won in the end, but I spent ages making my mind up laugh

Shame they stopped making the 2254.50.......it's much the nicer SMP style IMO.

In which case he's got his blinkers on.

Seriously, get onto Watchuseek and up your post count a bit. Then head over to the private sellers bit.

Ignore the ones saying Conus only, I'm going to generalise here, but our US cousins have no idea of anything outside their borders. As soon as the see you're in England they'll rip your arm off as long as you cover the additional postage. I guess they're just scared of posting to Italy, Africa or whichever country they are at war with this week.

There are some absolute bargains, they are all desperate flippers and are selling watches to pay for the next one they've already bought.

The sales bit is fast moving, find something you like, bookmark it and have a look in a few days, if it's not shifted, bid them in the peas and they'll bite.

Just make sure you don't get stung for duty and VAT, a lot depends on shipper (UPS or other) and of course, item description. Then you have to think of insurance - it's not at all a bad idea though - a few of mine have come from Aus or Europe, no problems at all - but I reckon if you Paypal or wire them the money (Paypal also has a few problems as it sometimes holds funds for 21 days for some reason) and they have it in their hand first then they'll send you the watch on to GB as easily as to NY.

Interesting info, thanks. Not sure I'm comfortable with 'blinkered', but I take your point.

Did sound a bit harsh, sorry ! I've often found using regular post slips under the tax radar a lot more than couriers, mind you I buy tat and not high value stuff.

Bought two watches from WUS both advert stated CONUS only.

When I emailed them and asked if the they would ship to the UK there said no problem.

just don't forget import tax may be an issue. I still prefer uk sites personally.

Yeah, I missed that. Most sellers have no problem shipping to the UK though.
