This saturday is one of my favourite rallys of the year, the Somerset Stages and I was wondering if somebody could tell me the stage start times as info seems to be hard to find this year.

Many thanks in advance biggrin

Hi yes the stage details are kept low profile to comply with the requests on us as organisors by
Exmoor National parks and Forestry Commision, as the Exmoor area is a very sensitive area and we do not want to compromise the event by having P.R. issues.

Every year we seem to take the blame for some motoring infringment or animal scare caused by rally cars, strangely enough these often happen several miles away from the Rally Route, and are actually over enthusiastic spectators rather than rally traffic.

As in previous years we have the Spectator stage is at Chargot Forest, with parking a short walk away in Kennisham forest which is organised by the Forestry Commision, without whose help we would not be able to rally on the Brendon complex. The spectator stage will have Commentry and Refreshments and will be used twice throughout the day. I forsee it will be dusty so I would suggest taking plenty of drinking water.

Pleased to hear you rate the event there is a lot of work goes on behind the scenes, with some of the organising team still being up and sending Emails at 2 in the morning, in the weeks leading up to the event, cant understand why we do it sometimes?? Enjoy your day. Dave

Looking at your website, it's not too clear, but does the spectator stage run at 09:18 and then 13:48, or at 13:48 running twice?

Hate to turn up at 9am to find nothing happening for 4 hours, equally don't want to arrive at 2pm to find we've missed half of it.

Thats totally understandable and what I thought was the case to be honest. I always make sure I dont cause any trouble be it driving to the stages or being beside them watching as I know what a fine tight rope rallying treads with the NIMBYs.Its just a shame that theres a small minority that have to ruin it for the rest of us that love the sport.

Really appreciate all the hard work (big under statement from what youve said) and hope all runs smoothly tomorrow biggrin

Well saturday was a very dusty, but brilliant days rallying at the Somerset Stages!

Watched a bit of Timberscombe 1 before moving onto Croyden where Burton covered everyone in dust where we were, could barely see for 30 seconds or so.

Then we moved to Porlock where some brilliant action around the sharp second hairpin rewarded a long walk down to the stage. Met Luke (306Cosworth) in one of the car parks, and had a bit of a chat on the way down, looking forward to seeing your coverage mate and cheers again for the maps and times

Last stage I was was Timberscombe 2 where Burton and Co were doing silly speeds down the hill, would love to see the data from that stage. Moved up to the ever tightening hay bale chicane where I saw an Impreza stall before a Skoda Felicia spun then nearly took out a speccy while trying to turn around.

How much anti-lag does Wright use in his Evo, sounded like we were in Basra every time we saw him!

Also got to give credit to the driver of the Number 205 Corsa who drove like a loon all day and the flame throwing Proton. Was never really into the 1400s before but now really enjoy them

Only took 3 pics as my battery died even though I fully charged it yesterday, so must be something up there. Still quite glad that I dont have to sort through 300 pics or so!
