I have started driving the Chim everyday and noticed that for the first 5-10 mins every time I depress the clutch the revs shoot up to 2000 before settling to say 1000 odd when getting it into gear.

When I reverse out and then get it into first I can almost hear the neighbours teeth grinding.

Is this because its so damn cold the engine is trying to warm up or something more sinister? I did have some problem with one of the cylinders misfiring and seemed to notice this afterward (diff to really say as not been driving it too regular).

Cheers all

That's a TADTS unfortunately. You can't do anything about it except let the car warm up for longer before driving off. So, either it revs higher as you're leaving or it revs lower but stays around longer. Perhaps you could ask them what they'd prefer. And then have all of the silcening removed.

Buwahahahahah

Get a sports exhaust and you'll be able to see your neighbours teeth grinding....

Had something similar recently - the wierd rev thing not neighbours grinding

Big Al suggested that I give it a good thrashing and I was quick to take his advice (I had been using it on short runs) and this cleared it. Reckon that I had a load of coke clogging various things and a 300 mile round trip to Brum cleared it just fine. Maybe your daily journeys are just enough to coke it?

You did this at 4am? Don't you like your neighbours?

Good idea though. I might see what effect doing this has on the next day's starting.
