As I had removed the floor certain carpet sections had to be separated from the aluminium. The underlay had also got damp so wasn't in the best condition so I decided to remove and replace it rather than just glue it back down.

The carpet covering the chassis was alright so I just cut the floor sections out where they were not already separate pieces.

I then decided (Thanks to Bondy) to silcone around the inside of the floor as well to add some extra protection from water ingress. So siliconed and then applied some bitumen sheet for some sound proofing.

Because of the neoprene strip the floor was a few mm lower so in the floor section I applied a couple of the bitumen sheets and then applied one over the rails as well before I put the carpet back on. This will get clamped by the seat frame when bolted back in.

Bitumen sheet, underlay, carpet and alcantara were all available on eBay.

Just make sure your rear window seal is keeping water out,(they are a known weak spot)it would be a shame to get the new work wet!

Thanks - don't think it has ever leaked from the rear window seal. Anyway don't really drive in the wet and now definitely don't want to try just in case the floor does still leak laugh
