OK so its another 'what watch' / 'Birth year watch' but in a couple of weeks its my ..(do the math)...birthday.
I just fancy treating myself to something a bit special.

Unfortunately the back of the wallet is a bit empty so Sub- £200 is the limit.

Something without a Quartz movement and not digital are the only other limiting factors

Any ideas?

Does size matter? wink

Actually no, not in this instance....I really want any suggestions, I quite like the idea of this watch being "outside my normal comfort zone"

For a bit of fun, stick "1985" in eBay and filter for watches, you get some hilarious results!
I did for my birth year (I'm younger wink) and a wide variety of Swatchs come up, a 5513 Sub, GMT Master, Datejust etc. etc.
Great for new ideas! thumbup

The Sieko I did see, but looks fairly roughed up for the price

I've just tried that for mine (a bit younger again!) and all I seem to get is a few plastic watches, some swatches and a bi-metal datejust which isn't really my style!

OK after trawling around the interweb most of yesterday I can definitively say that 1985 was the black hole of watch design and manufacture!!!!

Its either a Swatch, who's movement will, by now, be more shagged than the 1985 woman's Swedish National Volleyball Team

Or a couple of Quartz military watches.

Even when I ignore my budget I can't come up with any pieces!

Ah well still got 9 days to go.....ho hum

That's really difficult - Seiko may be a good place to start - they cover most bases and are never to be sniffed at:

A 6309 -

Shame you weren't born a decade before, they did some really lovely ones - these are 70's chronos and proud of it, very whizz-bang:

yes I have seen that one, Thailand was putting me off, but also the bezel looks like its taken alot of 'wear'.
Obviously any watch that's 25 years old is going to be worn...but possibly not that much.

I'm running down the Seiko route now, I already have a Seiko 5 from the cheap watch thread biggrin

Seiko is a good choice I reckon; good watches and within budget. smile
I'd just keep an eye on there and see what comes up.

For every Dom, there's a sub, in this case a lady-sub...
