Chaps,

SWMBO has given the go ahead for us to get to Goodwood this year bounce

We are looking to go on the Sunday but looking on the website I am not sure which ticket we need to go for, general admission or grandstand roving? Any ideas chaps on which would be better?

Also planning to take the kids (9 and 5) as I reckon they would love it.

Ta

first time i went in 2007 i went for the whole weekend and got grandstand tickets and although i didnt use it loads it was useful when it rained.

When i went last year for just the day i regretted not getting a grandstand ticket as i got there early walked up and down the hill loads and then got tired and just wanted to sit out of the sun (i got burnt!)

Its worth getting a grandstand ticket but they are considerably more.

Probably worth getting grandstand tickets if you've got young kids with you. Not only will they struggle to see anything unless you manage to get them to the front of the barriers in general admission, it's also a VERY long day & somewhere to sit down in the shade could be more than welcome.

If you buy a grandstand ticket you STILL have to buy the general admission tickets as well. One gets you in and the other gets you a seat in the roving grandstand by Lavant and the banking towards Woodcote. I would get both if you can afford it as it means you will have a great view point for the racing but also be able to roam the stands and displays without worrying about losing a good vantage point. ( The above re tickets also applies to the Festival of Speed although I never bother with grandstand seats for that.)

Is it worth getting grandstand tickets for the Revival? I've read several comments about grandstands not being essential at the FoS, but the Revival obviously has a lot more racing. Is it possible to see anything from the general public areas? I've never been to the circuit before, but my OH is getting Sunday tickets for us this year.

Chaps talking about the Revival and you're refering to the FoS.

Last year I found a space between two grandstands that gave me a pretty good view of the track from the chicane along the start-finish straight, and it was right next to the beer stall. Quite a nice afternoon, that...

Right, the thing is about the Revival is that there is as much to see which is of interest wandering round as the actual racing. So, as the OP has kids with him he'll probably want to spend time in the fun fair, do a tractor ride, wander round the paddock, look at the planes, see Dad's Army, laugh at the Goodwood actors, go in the Earl's Court motor show, have some lunch, watch some racing etc. etc. get the idea? Sitting in one place to with two kids all day isn't going to happen so I'd say bite the bullet, accept that what you'd like to do at the Revival for one day isn't what's going to happen and just enjoy the day and not bother with grandstand seats. smile
