Rolex....choice and discount?
Discussion
Morning all,
Looking for some helpful advice please.
Recently lost my Breitling Chronomat (owned since 2000)and am looking to replace with a Rolex. I was pretty certain that I'd buy the Milgauss Anniversary Edition however tried a Deep Sea on and am now torn between the two.
Already own a Tag Heuer Monza and a Omega Speedmaster (Moon model) both are used as occasional watches and I used the Breitling as an everyday watch. I'm now thinking I'll start to wear the Omega and Tag on a more regular basis and keep the Rolex for special occasions or weekend wear.
I have £4300 to put towards it from the Insurance company which would pay for the Milgauss £4200 but the Deep Sea is around £5800. I normally get at least 25% off from my Jeweler on any purchase however they can't supply Rolex so I'll need to look elsewhere for this purchase.
I don't want to throw a heap of money into the watch but I could live with a few hundred quid if I was to go for the Deep Sea at a similar discount, how likely am I to get a discount of around the same level off a Deep Sea or Milgauss purchase?
Any thoughts on the watches in question and advice on the discount appreciated.
Regards
Dave

Even though the Deep Sea may not be a huge sales success, I doubt any Rolex dealer would give anything like that level of discount if he wanted to keep his franchise & I’d be amazed if you’d getting anything meaningful of a brand new MilguassAs already suggested, Dom should be able to help, or the likes of

could provide a good pre-owned model with no worries about you getting anything but a genuine piece.
Hi,
Thanks for the advice above, it seems I may be able to get at least 20% off the Deep Sea at a AD through a friend so I'm probably going to go for that. At 20% off I'll have to throw about £400 quid at it which I can live with.
Once again thanks for your help and if this doesn't come off I'll try the alternatives supplied above.
Enjoy the rest of your day!

You can get 20% of pretty much any watch unless it's very sought after. I was offered 20% off a realtively rare Rolex recently by someone that was an intermediary and getting it themselves from an authorised dealer so I would argue you may be able to get more from a dealer direct if you push hard. I also got 20% off my IWC a couple of years ago....again from an intermediary.

^ This is what I've found in my experience to be honest and along with other members of my family find we get 25% at various Jewelers that we've spent sizable amounts of money with over the years. I thought it prudent to ask as I've never bought a Rolex before and didn't know if / how Rolex would view the AD if discounting to the same sort of levels as I was used to receiving. In addition to this I don't think the Deep Sea is selling particularly well and this AD currently has one in stock. I wonder on this basis if I'd be better off pushing for our 25% discount meaning I'd only have to pay an additional £110.00 for it...
Edited as my maths was crap!
