OK, so heres one for you. I have my 350i, high(ish) miles, not the cleanest wedge in the world but I use it for everyday transport. Have had the little monster for some time and STILL get a buzz driving her. So, to the dilemma. Do I stop shaking her to pieces on Mr Bliars wonderfully smooth roads (and putting 10K miles on her every year) or semi-retire the old beast and just use for fun? Alternatively (and my preferred option) wait until BBWF, get Mrs Flattyland surrounded by other wedgeheads, use the 350 for everyday transport and convince her that we dont need a bigger house, but must have a (just for fun) bigger wedge!?!

Compromise .. sell her - buy a bigger wedge that has been restored or lower miles...

Best of both .. course you only have to ask at BBWF and everyone should be happy to show your wife any other wedges there.

What is the opening bid for the wife? Is there a full description in the catalogue - age, finish, origin, quality, patina etc.?

How many owners has she had, does she need touching up, and is the suspension knackered?

I think you're to be applauded for using your wedge everyday, wish I could but commuting to the city 2 or 3 times a week and with 4 kids to pick up from time to time it just aint possible.

However, from your post it sounds to me that you could use a change to a new wedge (which I guess would be to a bigger wedge) then you'd have all the thrill of a new car + the grin factor you're used to. I think it is possible even with a TVR to get in a rut, just ask Rev!

I have the same dilemma - Use mine everyday - Love it etc. But want a mint SEAC ( as long as the heater is better than mine)The wife wants me to have a new MR2 which I must admit to liking but would need one for each foot!! Taking her to BBWF for some brainwashing.

Stever -

...and I was trying to be polite!

Rev - new woman(en) would be most welcome thank you! Have plenty of vehicles - need to stock up on other creature comforts! Especially to accompany me to BBWF!

Ooooh - Saucy! I may just try it. Will probably end up spending hours going through the site.

Good to come across such a site with a recommendation of proven success.

Do you think I should mention the previous six wives?

BBW fest should sort it.

I have come to the conclusion that the bigger the house, the more junk is aquired and hidden away in the rooms. Or rather acording to the missis its junk. Some of it has to be hidden in the attic to avoid being ejected. Amstrad, Amiga, 4 tons of old scholl books etc.

Glad to find there are other hoarders around - though I'm sad over successive moves I didn't manage to keep my motoring magazines - be worth a fortune now!

Just got back to check this thread and I must say youre all bl**dy !! However, very welcome after a 2-day business trip to Notts. The small amount of real advice there was useful. As for the wife, apart from a bit of tightening on the upholstery, I'll think I'll keep her Definitely need a bigger wedge tho... And as for living in a shoebox? You were lucky. We lived in t'rolled-up newspaper in t'bottom of t'septic tank....
