A friend is thinking of gettin the Omega Planet Ocean, but is undecided between the:

Orange Bezel:

Black Bezel:

Are the black and orange bezel versions interchangeable - i.e Could he buy the Orange Bezel version, then obtain a Black Bezel and swap them over when he wishes?

It is possible to swap the bezel on a Planet Ocean, but you would need to contact either a watchmaker or Omega themselves for the work to be carried out, the latter being the safer option! I believe genuine replacement Planet Ocean bezels are approximately £120, so for a complete swap, you would be looking at £250-300.

There are replacement PO bezels on eBay for a lot less, but they are not genuine parts and may not fit correctly as a result.

Try contacting Omega Customer Service UK for more information: 0845 274 3500

A quick Google shows that a TZ-UK member wants to do the same - Worth a read: http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t...

Replacement bezels can be bought from here:

Any jeweller/watchsmith with a bezel removal tool will be able to swap them over easily enough. No need to send it to Omega to get shafted.

My local Goldsmiths wouldn't do it - They said my PO would have to go back to Omega for the bezel change frown However you are right that a watchsmith/jeweller will be cheaper than Omega themselves, but I guess you have some comeback with Omega if dinks occur whilst handling ... Correct me if I'm wrong though smile

Not surprised at goldsmiths tbh, as most high st jewellers will struggle with anything more that adjusting a strap! They'll need a proper bezel removing tool, and also a press to get it back on.

I fear you won't have any more comeback with Omega regarding any damage. Infact you may find it worse than a local shop, as you they can argue it happened in transit.
