Hi All,
First posting, so please be gentle with me.;)

Looking for some advice please:-

We've just booked a weeks holiday in Austria in late July and want to make it a bit of a Alps driving experience as well.

We are staying in Bad Gastein, which is about 90km south of Salzburg.

Plan is to get Fri. lunch Eurotunnel then drive to either Strasbourg or Stuttgart if we make good time, then on the Saturday via Munich to Bad Gastein.

Spend best part of the week relaxing, then cut the week stay short by a couple of days to drive back through the Alps. Leaving Austria Friday morning and arriving Calais around 5pm on the Sunday, giving us two full days in the Alps and best part of a day to get to Calais.

So we are basically looking for the best route through the Swiss Alps from East to West.

Looked at loads of web sites, including this one:-

Definately want to pull in the Stelvio pass and San Bernadino pass.

Also we need somewhere to stay on the Friday and Saturday nights, happy to go with the flow and we'll chuck a tent in the back in case.

Looking to head for Geneve or Lausanne but want to make the best of our two days getting there, has anyone done this or similiar and if so I'd appreciate your advice and experience on the best route.

Main criteria we're looking for are the best roads, best scenery.

thanks in advance.

Nick
