Monaro Key Programing
Discussion
1.Turn the ignition to ON, then wait 10 minutes for the next step in the programming sequence.
2.After the 10 minutes has elapsed, the car horn will chirp once. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position within 5 minutes after the horn has sounded, then to the ON position within 5 seconds after switching it OFF.
3.Leave the key to the ON position for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes has elapsed, the car horn will chirp twice. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position within 5 minutes after the horn has sounded, then to the ON position within 5 seconds after switching it OFF.
4.Leave the key to the ON position for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes has elapsed, the car horn will chirp 3 times.
5.Verify that the security indicator in the instrument cluster has stopped flashing and attempt to start the vehicle.
6.Turn the ignition to OFF and remove the key from the ignition switch.
7.Move approximately 3 meters (10 ft) away from the vehicle and test the transmitter functions to validate that the transmitter has been programmed successfully.

Just a thought: Is it wise to post this info on a public forum? If a thief were to buy a key and simply tow your car away, would they be able to programme a blank key to the car?
As i posted on my thread to buy a key you need the security code, key code, V5 and a driving licence so probably safeGranby said:

I didn't, the car did not come with the security code, key code car pass etc. I just bought a key from Vauxhall. However, Ferret's point about the alarm holds true, as long as the car has been double locked with key to activate the immobiliser and alarm. As I said; it was just a thought.

that is true technically but in theory not tru as when i sold my last ute the buyer asked for the vin number and i didnt mind giving it to him as he bought the ute but the point is he rang australia with it and they told him all about the car i done the same with the new one i got as i needed the security code for the radio and a spare glovebox key no questions asked orded and have the radio code go figure
remember a key is 2 parts, the metal "key" and the electronic key, even if someone had a blank electronic key they'd still need the metal key section as well, only way of getting that is through dealer with all the appropriate documents. What this is good for though is we can now buy the cheap electronic parts from Oz, move the metal key over from any faulty electronics and reprogramme the new one to the car without involving dealers.
