Anywhere of interest in Wandsworth?

Are there any really decent pubs in and around Wandsworth that are worth a visit?

Have been sampling the ones on Northcote Road and a few others, but anywhere really good that I should try out?

(by "good", I mean places that do really great food, have good ales on, or generally have a really nice ambience)

All stuffed full of a certain 'type', but that's Wandsworth for you

Northcote road, I have had many an interesting night there crawling between The Underdog and The Goat.


The best proper pub nearby is the Nightingale on Nightingale Lane... technically on the borders of Balham but without doubt the best pub around. Guest beers, proper service and not one trust fund/rah in sight.

Ah I didn't realise, when did this happen am I light years behind ?...........where is the brewery now, as I always remember seeing the horses doing their rounds albeit some fair few years ago.

I'd recommend heading towards Southfields and visiting the Earl Spencer, on Merton Road.

Food really is excellent, have been many times. Menu changes every week. Can't praise it highly enough (went Monday night, going there again tomorrow night!)

The Cat's Back on the edge of Putney is fabulous, although has got a bit popular these days, but still a great place to drink.

The Ship in Wandsworth is very good for food etc as well, worth a try.

Prince of Wales in Balham ,for that South of the River experience and the Bedford also Balham .
