Some progress today;
The non-functioning horn turned out to just be corroded contacts on the relay. I also had a go at solving the problem with the aerial constantly blowing fuses so I took it apart and re-greased everything including the mast, which appears to have solved the problem.The fog light that stopped working after I had the bumper off and out of the way for painting just needed connecting up.

I went over to speak to the chap doing the welding yesterday, he hasn't had a look yet but he did say that it drove fine with no knocks, rattles or misfires. Apparently even the brakes were fine - I was quite surprised to hear this as the car had only done 10 miles up and down the close in the last 20 months.

That's a shame. What was the planned timescale on this restoration and who is planning on using it once it's finished?
It was supposed to be back on the road this summer and the bodywork was due to be done later in the year. The plan was that it would be used occasionally for shows once restored and then my daily when I got my licence - mum agreed to pay half of the insurance cost. Now, however, I think it would be best to stick to using the Cub for the first year so I have a year of NCB to use on the Jag's policy.

Leaving it sitting around for years not getting used is not going to do it any good at all. How much more money do you think you are going to need to spend on it to get it finished?
I've got a mechanic friend doing all the work for me at mate's rates so only around £300 back on the road and a further £500-£600 to immaculate condition.This may not sound like a lot - and to be honest it isn't - but saving up that much for me has proven impossible. I have spoken to mum and she said that it WILL be at least back on the road next year.
The car will be back here before the end of the week. I think it will be best if it's still ran occasionally rather than sat still for 6 months.
I went up to the garage today with some petrol to put in it and the battery was completely flat, no dash lights, central locking dead etc. If it fails to hold a charge I will be rather annoyed, it's only a couple of months old.
I've also won a joblot of bits so I will finally have a pile of spares for the car. Off to the garage now to make room for it

I've finally had the car dropped back off at lunchtime today. It seems that the drive to and from the garage has done it some good at least as the ABS light is no longer on and the ABS works! I had to jump start it off my Sinclair as the battery was only at a little under 3V when the car arrived here and I'm not sure if it will still hold a charge. Although when I plugged it into the charger for 20 mins, disconnected it and the voltage seemed to have shot up to just over 11V I left it disconnected for an hour and the voltage didn't drop so I have left it to charge overnight and fingers crossed it should be alright.
