Rather than rumour and whispers, can I just say that I'm DELIGHTED that Nigel Dean has decided to take his not inconsiderable expertise to my favourite kitcar magazine.

Well done 'KIT~CAR'!

I hope not too many people are upset........

I could see this coming months ago........

Wonder if Den tempted him with a new pair of slippers????

Seriously, if this is true, well done Den, now I know what you meant when you said you were going to use subtle methods from now on...........

You're a wiser man than me Wacky.

The first time I heard about it was on Monday last week when Nigel me to ask if I’d like to discuss his career.

We spent the whole of the next day discussing ideas and issues. Ted Marlow said Nigel was an excellent ambassador and through gentleman. He really wasn’t kidding. I’m soooo impressed with Nigel, pleased to have him on board and delighted beyond description.

On Wednesday, Nigel went to Fib’s and tendered his resignation. To say that the air was blue would be an understatement. However, Nigel won’t tell me anything of what was said between them. He simply wants to look forward.

I’m giving him more responsibility than he had under Fib’s, and he’s going to edit Cobra magazine on a trial basis.

All in all, this is going to be very very very good for both of us. I believe it will be good for the whole kit car industry.

Just between you and me, Wacky.

Nigel said he wouldn’t work for someone who spent his life ranting on PistonHeads. I explained that, although Ted would probably be upset, I’d calm down a bit.

So, it’s happy pills for me from now on

Hearty congratulations Den, as said before the way forward is simply to be better than the opposition and Nigel's contributions will go a long way towards this

Can I suggest that the first project could be re-building and turbocharging a Honda V6? its a really popular engine choice and I may know someone who could supply a donor to work on

Now I'm upset. With Den on happy pills and Nigel Dean arriving it looks like I might be shelling out for a regular subscription to kitcar rather than my usual haphazard 'buy it if I see it' approach . Hope it works out well for Nigel, Den, and the rest of the KC team.

To be serious for a minute, this is a great signing for Den and "Kit car", Nigel Dean is a top bloke, having met him at Kit car shows, he is a very friendly guy, who is a fountain of knowledge about all aspects of kit car building and ownership, "Kit Cars" gain is certainly "Which Kits"? loss......

One can only speculate on the reason Nigel "jumped ship", as IIRC he was due to commence building a "Dax" Cobra........

Anyway, keep on the happy pills Den life is far too short to hold grudges.........

Thanks everybody, for the congratulations .

The fact is that Nigel’s appointment really does make a significant difference to me and enables me to relax in so many respects.

I’ve been aware that Kit Car hasn’t had a serialised build project for quite some time. Also, one doesn’t need to be a rocket scientist to see that Nigel’s technical contribution to Which Kit? was significant (possibly the most significant). So, I was thinking long and hard about a ‘detail’ Dean antidote. I never thought for a moment that it would come in the form of the man himself.

Ironically, all the alternative plans are still very much ‘live’ as well. The construction of my very own 700 sq ft garage/workshop is well underway. I’m still very interested in the many propositions regarding build features, technical articles and the like that have come from you lot.

My point is that not only am I being advised to tone down my aggressive side in so far as one individual is concerned, but in view of many recent developments even I can see that a completely different approach is required.

That approach shall be to show 'how a magazine of integrity should be produced'.

Andy,
The truth is that’s what EVERYBODY has been telling me for months.

I have calmed down of late, but you’d be amazed at how hard it is to put a cat back in a bag after you’ve let it out.

This significant gain, which some might call a victory, affords an excellent opportunity for me to redirect my passion towards issues which matter to ordinary readers like you good folk.

I’m going to put the lid on the personal remarks and get on with improving my magazine. I believe it’s fair for me to claim that it has already been improved in a mechanical sense. Nigel’s contribution should make it improve in an intellectual sense as well.

As you and other have intimated. The best product will ultimately sell better, attract advertisers and gain most respect.

It really is good news .

As has already been said, congrats due to Den, KCM and Nigel.

Now all that needs to be done is for Den to sack his graphic designer and hire one with some sense of style

Harsh, I know, but IMHO the only thing that will be letting KCM down now is going to be it's visual appearance.
