Now that sound like a good trip. Never been to the Dolomites but the rest is real beautifull. Vacations haven't started than so not to much traffic.

I'm doing a trip of similar mileage next month, also in an MX5, also to the Swiss Alps and the Stelvio but via the Vosges and the Black Forest with Luxembourg and Belgium on the return. Bring it on!

We normally go in September, avoiding the worst of the tourists but still getting the weather. This year I am leaving swmbo behind and having to go early, did think about July for better chance of more sun BUT by the back end you are hitting more traffic and early July is Tour de France time with all the sweaty Lance Armstrong wanabees crowding the roads if not closing them.

Hope neither effect you guys all the best.

Actually I was inspired by your earlier posts and will be stopping in the Pension Williams on my way down from Stuttgart to Andermatt via the B500.

In terms of the route TO Stuttgart I was planning to go via Reims and then across the Vosges to Cernay and Mulhouse, stopping at the Schlumpf museum before heading northeast through the Black Forest up to Stuttgart. Sound ok? Any alternative suggestions?

I think you're trying to fit too much into day 2 - its a long drive.

We went to the Trummelbach falls last October - quite interesting but not as cool as taking the train up through the mountain to the Jungfraujoch, even going halfway from Lauterbrunner to KleineSchein-thingy is a cool trip.

I have see the price of that train lol, did consider visiting Piz Gloria but think time would be a problem.

Day 2 is a piece of cake compared to previous years, the longest being landing in D'kirque 1am, Brekky bellow Paris, Millau for Lunch and then had Dinner in Nimes after finding a hotel cool Mind you we did lose one guy to fatigue around Orleans but he had travelled non stop from Ireland the previous day laugh

This year at least it will be a bit of Autobahn so should be able to eat the miles.

Piz Gloria is well worth it if you can find a little time - stunning views and the cable car rides to get there are breathtaking. Best view of the Eiger too!
