Reason for asking is that my local GP (West Midlands) has just quoted me £100 for this coming Wednesday, whereas son & heir (London) got charged £35 for his about a month ago.

And there was me thinking that London was a more expensive place to live than the rest of the UK scratchchin

What did you pay / what do you reckon?

I 'think' mine was £40. £100 seems a tad steep!

I think mine was around £80 or £90 a few years ago

Because of my advancing age I have to have one each year at my local group practice.
First year was £100 going off the advisory BMA fee scales, next year with another doctor I know quite well was only £25, then this year the cheap doctor was on sick leave so ended up with another one who settled it at £50. Probably paying about the right rate on average!!

My GP charges £50 for my MSA medical or £100 if I can claim it back as with my HGV medical.

Paid £48 last November for mine. They classed it as a medical for a black cab driver.

Like you, I'm a 'fresh medical every year' bloke from now on cry

Hadn't heard about those advisory BMA fee scales - btw, how much do they charge for CDif nowadays? - there was me thinking they had added an extra £50 on in case they need to get me a cab to take me home because I'd forgotten where I parked my car! Luckily, they've got my address on file; it'd be no good asking me where I live hehe

Looks like they are stiffing me somewhat ....... oh well, they've got to pay for that nice new surgery somehow I suppose. Not that it's improved their receptionist's idea of customer service phone technique; in a word, grumpy

Clearly need to find myself a friendly doc ..... ideally, one that's not attending AA or Relate or on downers or uppers or on long term sick or on a long study tour vacation in tropical parts ..... blimey, it's going to be tough.

Yep biggrin

I paid £80 about 8 years ago. Are you taking that nice new SR3RS out for a proper spanking some time soon?

£80 about 8 years ago makes me feel more comfortable about £100 in 2010 (although I keep getting repetitive recall after finding out there's quite a few specialists that do it for HGVers for £40 - £50 in 2010).

As to the spanking, apparently so, as they say, rumour has it; you know how it is with me, I just quietly do what I'm told, never argue or protest ....... ever hehe

I don't think £100 is overly dear but then I'm a bit biased at the moment. It's all a matter of luck with who you get and what they want to charge and I've heard of a few people being charged a lot more than that.

My Doc does it for £30.00 but he also does work related medicals for us too so we have a bit of a deal going on.

Details please? About the racing, not how obediant you may or may not be.
