Hi, wondering if anyone has had this problem. When it gets to 1/4 of a tank it cuts out and seems to be empty?

If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

Have a look at this http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210-e50-amg-e55-a...

Also I read somewhere that there was a vacuum lock on an E55. Next time this happens take off the petrol cap - do you get an audible rush of air if so it may be the breather on the cap not working. If it does cut out and you remove the cap and it then works it will be this.

I know both of these are E class but I would imagine the basic design is the same.

I assume from the post that it is not a faulty fuel gauge.

How many litres did you put back in to fill the tank full - vs - the tank capacity ??

Just had a look in the MercedesClub forums and found the following. Sounds about right.

Having issues with Mrs E's W203 fuel guage where it reads just under 1/4 full and then promptly cuts out (empty).

A modded tank sensor is available which reminds me - must get it sorted...

I had this on a 10 year old E320 E class last year, I put a bottle of Millers cleaner in and then the guage went down to empty properly.

However, I did notice it sat at 1/4 tank for a fair while, so I am presuming your issue may be something different.
