Hi ,
I am considering going to view an E46 M3 but the vendor doesnt know if the car has Bluetooth? ( that in itself is a bot of a worry on an M car owner) Did the E46 M3 have B'Tooth as standard or how can the vendor verify if it has B'tooth fitted from the factory as an option?( Telephone LED on dash?)
Thanks

Nope it is an extra just like most things on BMWs.
Apart from going through the set up procedure for pairing a phone I think the only way to tell is if it has the B/T modual in the boot above the cd player

Just press the menu button (right hand side).

Options should be TV, Setup, Navigation and Telephone if Bluetooth ULF if fitted. If no Telephone option, no bluetooth.

Can be retrofitted at (reasonable / not entirely crippling) cost.

Not unless you have a car without Sat Nav. Then you can't follow these instructions. You'd have to try the method for pairing. Hold the button on the centre console for the phone in, with the ignition off, then whilst holding it, turn the ignition to either position 1 or 2, I can't quite remember but you can try both, then after 3 seconds let the button go. If BT PAIRING comes up on the stereo where the radio station is normally displayed, you have Bluetooth, if not, then the car doesn't have it.

Also not the case if the car has a hardwired phone kit, normally the motorola V50. Although it'll be fairly obvious if it has this as the cradle will be in the centre console. If it has bluetooth there will be a pairing button. If you have no joy you can phone BMW and they'll be able to tell you the original spec of the car.

Bluetooth cars have a pairing button on the phone tray.

It was a £350 option.
