Preparation!

OK, the build may still be some way off, but I thought I might as well make use of the Stafford Show this weekend and pick up a few tools...

Bearing in mind that the majority of my existing toolkit is not designed for Automotive (I'm from an electronics/electrical background) I will be looking nearer the time of the build to get one of those starter kits from the likes of Sealey etc.

But, is there anything "that you can always pick up for pennies at shows" that I should keep my eyes open for?

One piece of kit I have found invaluable although not pennies is quite cheap is a 2 foot breaker bar cost about £8 last year at donnington and has had some serious hammer along with my torque wrench, argos special

I would imagine "Car builder solutions" will be there, they sell usefull things like "hole Cutters" "Rivnut Tools" and sanding drums which are all very useful with kits.

My favourite tool is a cordless impact wrench which saves a huge amount of time.

I had hole cutters on my shopping list already (Use them in electrical jobs as well, and the set I currently use have seen far, far better days!)

Tools that do 'cost pennies' and are worthwhile having and are usually on a few stall holders stands are the devices that are useful when you drop nuts, screws, washers etc in difficult to retrieve places.

Haven't got a clue what they are called but are generally about 18-24" long with with either a claw like retractable end or a magnet (can also get ariel type tools with magnets on the end)

They only cost about £1 but come in extremely handy.

If any one knows suppliers of these devices I would be grateful if you could let me know as this was on my list of things to stock on Madabout should I ever get round to it.

Brake bleeding kit with a check valve (I don't know why they don't put these in the nipples).

Makes bleeding them a doddle - you can even do it on your own.

A right angle drill adaptor is an invaluable asset, if you don't already have one
