Greetings.

It's getting close to change car time, and have been thinking about C30s - probably an R-Design (as much as I'd like a T5 I don't think the insurance nor economy would persuade me to go there). So, does anyone have any advice what to look for (general problems etc with the car) or are they bulletproof?

thanks
Ian

Which engine are you thinking of?

Have you sat in one yet? I thought the cabin was nice enough, but I've tried some R-design seat in a S40 before and found them quite uncomfortable...that was over a year ago though and have heard other people say they're fine.

Also I found the boot very small and not greatly shaped...but that might not be important to you?!

I've had a change of heart - well my wallet has. Managed to get sensible quote for insurance for a T5 so thats potentially on the list. Other list option is the R-design 2.0 petrol.

Not had much contact with them yet - its all potentials at the minute... Just trying to do a bit of research before moving forward.

Definitely go for the T5 then....the 5 cylinder engine sounds loads better than the 4 cylinder one in the 2.0 and obviously is loads faster!

my mates got the 5 clydr with the sports spaz box.
its got reasonable poke but the box is a little slow sometimes.
the boot is hopeless but the seats are quite nice unless your a bloater.
he's had a couple of ecu related problems but an update sorted those.
heater/aircon is good, stereos ok but not the best but the satnav is decent.

These cars just feel so sterile to me. They numb your senses and the interior is so sparse that really you just get bored rather quickly.

I can't really suggest an alternative, but personally I would not have a diesel. They're just not worth it.

I have a 2.0D R-Design 59reg with upgrades for sale with delivery mileage.

The 2.0D has good poke, much better than the 2.0 petrol. The reason it has delivery mileage was that they buggered up my first order and left off some options I ordered. So they gave me the first car while the new one was being built, but in this time I moved to London, so now I have no need for the new one.

Let me know if your interested and I can fire over some pics and a link to the ad.
