Tell me they work, then tell me Beer Ice lollies work as well?

Any reason why ice cubes made from beer wouldn't work, to then drop into more beer. Ice cold beer (Lager) of course not the warm tepid brown stuff.

If so I can see a few other combinations being knocked up.

I put some bottles of Carlsberg in the freezer for rapid cooling on Saturday, 3 got left overnight, and Sunday I had frozen Carlsberg ! so yep, ice cubes and lollies would work !

Would not work. You would get frozen beer-flavoured water, plus a little puddle of alcohol on top.

Also, if you have ever frozen then defrosted a beer, you will know it tastes horrid .

Alcohol doesn't freeze until some ridiculously low temp. You could do it if you have access to liquid nitrogen.

That would be pure alcohol, drinks are a mix though.

So the 'Mix' freezes and the alcohol doesn't.. I assume.

i mean by all means give it a go. what have you got to lose, other than a quid for a can of Carlsberg and 10 minutes of time to pour and pop in the freezer?

from seeing what happens to bottled beer when it freezes (solid + alcohol sitting on top) i would guess it wouldnt work. might be different for you though!

What about if the can was on a small conveyor belt, with the circumference of the can in line with the direction of travel of the belt?

Now your talking!

Has it got wheels? How big is the can vs. conveyer belt?

I tried making a lager ice pop when I was at uni (many moons ago). Can of Harp in the freezer for a day or so, then cut the end off and thought I'd get a lager lolly. Wrong. I got a graduated frozen-ish slushy crap waste of a 95p can of rubbish lager. As a student I was devastated at the waste of a can of cheap lager.

I now look upon this as a message a) not to drink rubbish lager and b) that lager lollys would probably have been invented by a proper brewer if they were intended to feature on this earth.

This episode featured in our culinary experiments such as :

  • If you put pasta in a deep fat frier will it cook quicker than boiling it. Stupid.
  • If you break an egg in a fat frier will it cook quicker than frying it. Run. Run really fast.
  • Putting the fat frier in the cupboard for the rest of the year as it is downright dangerous and never getting clean after the egg episode.

I think it needs a touch of Heston Blumenthal genius and some liquid nitrogen.

Nope - but I can see the logical connection. I was your average inquisitive student, who had never thrown random food in a fat frier at max heat. Not a recommended pastime. Jelly cubes were particularly stupid, but we'd already wrecked the thing by then.

During a session on shroooms a few year back I decided my crisps were too raw. I proceeded to deep fat fry a 24pack of walkers.

We ate them all too. hehe

Reverse distillation! Is it legal...?

Not really; boiling fat is about twice as hot as boiling water...

Not reverse distillation, but freeze distillation - the earliest known form. How vodka etc was first made in very very cold countries like Russia.
