I sent my GMT away to Rolex for some repairs (new case/bezel and glass) plus service, It's due back within the next 2 weeks and I feel like a change, I have the box and papers etc...What do you think I could expect on a trade in/private sale?

No expert on these but £3,000 to £3,300 for a private sale would seem to be the ball park.

The 2004 version IIRC is the pre update version. I sold one of these in 2005 on e-bay and got £2.4K for it. It was 3 years old at the time but was in first class condition. I would say between £1800-2200 would be a resonable price. If however it is the updated version then £3K+ is doable.

When you say pre update version, could you elaborate? I.e what's the difference?

Paid £3k for my 2004, black/red bezel, from a dealer in Dec 2009.

All the guys on Bond St/Liverpool St are knocking them out >£3k now. Sure I saw a blue/red for £4k at Liv St last time I walked past.

edit: To add to the 'I'll take two at £1800' stuff. I looked at buying a GMT a few years ago when you could pick one up for around £2k. Put it off and bought something else, decided to take the plunge on the GMT last winter and couldn't find one anywhere reputable for less than £3k.

No doubt that's true, but the list price must have increased, what £1000 since 2005?

I haven't the faintest what he's on about either. Mine, an Explorer II is a 2003, which has lug holes. The 2004 (and all subsequent Rollies) don't. Are there any other differences? As for ones with 'oles being worth less than no 'oles, I don't know about that. I'd say buy on condition - an original one with a bit of WABI would be worth more to me than one that's been polished to buggery.

Edited so my post makes some sense!

When did SuperLuminova become introduced?
Was early 2000s but can't remember when. Other than Lug holes can't think of anything else that was an 'update'.
