Hi,

I will be taking delivery of 6.5" ET38 Team Dynamic Monza alloys and I anticipate they will sit too far in the arches. I don't have the car yet, so not sure if it has nuts or bolts to hold the wheels on, it's a SEiW 2002 Zetec with discs on the back axle.

I know I can use spacers, but I am a bit nervous about getting the right ones. I don't what the ones which act as big washers, with only the bolts uts holding the wheel on with no support. So where can I get (how much?) proper wheel spacers which will centre the wheel & give addional support.

What about longer bolts, will they be required, I think they will need to come out by 20mm. Where can I can them from? I see Westfield can supply 60mm bolts.

Thanks in advance.

Graeme

Demon tweeks would be my first point of call, for both the spacers as well as the longer bolts (consider heavier duty as well due to extra loading).

Sounds like it's too late now, but you'd have been better waiting until you actually had the car and then ordering wheels with the correct offset so you wouldn't need spacers.

Yeap too late, never mind.

Rimstock the UK importers for Team Dynamic told me it would be ET38 for 6.5" rims on a Westfield.

Anyway the ball games has changed slightly, spoke to the old owner and he said he cut the last studs to make the current wheels fit, how easy is it to change them? Do I require a new hub or just the studs? If just the studs, is it worth getting longer studs so i can fit spacers, because I don't think you can use spacers on studs, or am I wrong?

Cheers

As far as I can remember (sorry been a while), but the bolts have splines on them and are and extremely tight push fit (i.e. with a hydraulic press), it is possible to beat them out, but I wouldn't fancy beating new ones in.

I think thats how things are....or is that mini hubs?

It is possible to fit spacers on studs, but not for just 20mm. For that amount you really need to use longer studs.

As mattstead says, the studs have splines and are an interference fit into the hubs, so removing them requires either a hydraulic press or some subtle work with a big hammer.

Refitting new ones is actually quite easy - all you need is a wheelnut, washer and spanner. Basically, you push the stud into place, then as you tighten the nut, it'll draw the splines fully into the hub.

Thanks for that.

Does anyone know what they standard length studs to suit 15 " alloys, I'll then try and source ones which are 15-20mm longer. Is there a specific type hread I need to buy?

Local ford dealer, or Burton power (do a web search) should know...or even westfield?

Graeme,

Probably the best in wheel spacers are the FK wheel adaptors on here: www.fk-automotive.de/en/index.php

They have an agent in the uk with a website but i cant find it just now. I got mine from them and they are very well made bits of kit.
