Would one of these be a good buy, not going to loose money on one I am sure

Does anyone know on here know much about them ?

I must be bonkers but I have fallen head over heals, very, very tempted.

Wife has her Horses so why can't I have a few more.

School fees are finished now and would love to own one, I think Pettersons Blowers are the best and so right.

PaddyZulu,

We are all just fine and dandy thanks, just getting a little bored with my Jeeps and want something I can polish.

Andy.

I met Bob Petersen for the first time recently at an AMOC meeting (we were both in Bentleys). He had with him the Dartmoor Coupe (the blue car in BG's photos). I was most impressed by both the man and his car. Workmanship is fantastic and that does not come cheap. Will you get it back when you sell? My guess is probably not for the "ordinary" Petersen Blower, but maybe for a one-off: Bob told me that the owner of the Dartmoor Coupe had already been offered substantially more than the £305K that it cost him. A mere pastiche, even built to a very high standard, will surely never command top prices, but an orignal, even though built out of period, is a different matter.

A group of us were discussing these cars at a Bentley Drivers Club meeting the other day, and the consensus seems to be thus. Peterson cars are superbly engineered cars that the BDC is likely to regard as 'specials' since they are based on either Derby or Mk VI chassis. They will only be viewed as Bentleys if they have a Bentley engine as opposed to a RR straight 8. The BDC may be prepared to authenticate a Peterson if the chassis and engine numbers are authentic, and will even offer an official valuation. Some BDC members are still sniffy about Peterson vehicles, but they are gaining a lot of official recognition because of the attention to detail and engineering standards.
Best wishes,
David.

They are made with care and attention but they are not old and they are not bentleys.

They are often made from the chassis of a 1950's Rolls Royce dressed up to look like a 1920's Bentley.

Now given that Bentley was completely independent of Rolls Royce in the 1920's and that their cars had zero in common with a Rolls Royce, it is a bit disingenuous to call them Bentley's, lovely things though they may be.

That is the truth of things. But that is not to put them down, they are truly lovely cars.

And when you see an authentic 1920's Bentley Le Mans rep or Speed Six in the flesh, even experience one, you can't help but conclude that although the Petersens are awesome, they are not quite the same.

The popularity of the Petersen is driven by the fact that authentic 1920's Bentleys ( what ever that means as even "originals" often have had engines and bodies changed over the years ) are fetching silly money.

A good 1920's Bentley speed six is £600,000 or more. An authentic Blower is £1m plus. A petersen is a fraction of this ( or a Racing Green , a rival much like Petersen) .

But it's not cool to pretend its a real one. smile

And one other thing - people get obsessed about the "blower" Bentley. There is'nt really any reason to. The Blower was developed for racing, but even WO Bentley himself was not a fan. Most true Bentley nuts know that a Speed Six is the nicer car to drive. Cubic inches win over forced induction - even in the 1920's.

I just can't help loving the Petterson built Blower, and am looking hard into funding it.

Been down to Devon and had a good look but was hoping for a good look at one a bit more local (Surrey).
