He can fk off with his relativist bks; no-one that has 2 brain cells to rub together is suggesting we invade Syria or put the army back into Iraq(beyond the existing secret squirrel and training roles); the Peshmurga have demonstrated that in a straight fight they can kick IS arse and with some air support and logistics will have the nutters pushed back to the border with reasonable swiftness. What we do about Syria is anyone's guess.

However, I do agree with charging folk for missing appointments.
great idea till you realise the ones who will be hit by it are likely on benefits and won't pay it anyway.

on the rare occasions I am parked in the doctor's waiting room, it's pretty obvious what the problems are.

I'm a huge admirer of Douglas Murray, but he seemed strangely subdued.

I just watched this on Listen again, as I have most of Tom Holland's books, which I love. He did seem to make sense on the issue.

+ 1, think he gave up on the tossers around him - not worth wasting his energy/intellect.

Hunt is making a play for leadership, I think.

A simple reduction in bennies for the value of the missed appointment should see to that for those missing multiple appointments

A joined up Health and Benefits system should see to that .... ahh.

How is this workable in reality though? Like prescription charges it will be a nightmare to implement as vulnerable groups would have to be exempt - so no charges for OAPs, disabled, under 16s, homeless, etc.

Hunt is a . He continues to hype up unrealistic expectations for the NHS, especially GP services, knowing full well there are not enough GPs or resources to implement it. If the job of a GP is so cushy then why is there a lack of them? And how do they intend to magic up 5000 new GPs?

I find it quite depressing that all the major parties appear to be lining up to start another foreign bombing mission. Also how the fk can they say Islamic state has nnothing to do with Islam? Of course it does, a lot of the sick st that is being carried out is outlined in religious texts - it is just a very literal and brutal interpretation of them.

Has anyone actually *asked* IS if they are anything to do with Islam?

If the declaration of the caliphate isn't enough for you, how about the strict interpretation of Sharia, lopping off body parts and generally putting non-muslims(and nonobservant muslims) to the sword if they refuse to convert/renounce their apostasy or using them as slaves, wrapping themselves in the more bloodthirsty bits of islamic scripture in the pursuit of their particular form of death cult.

Instead of giving me $hit, how about answering the question.

It's simple - has anyone asked, or haven't they?
When we get an answer directly from IS, then we'll know for sure if the government are talking bks or not.

I don't think anybody directly asked Hitler if he was a very naughty boy. But going from the evidence I'd put money on it that he was.

Is religion open to interpretation or is it very clear do you think? If it's very clear do you think we as a civilisation have changed our views in the last 500 years or so?

Asking them is irrelevant as they would say yes (or no) but others would say no (or yes). The only fact is that the world would would be a better place without sky fairies.

On THis Week, this week Tom Holland made the argument that it is very much pat of Islam since it follows the early/first works of Islam and adheres to the original founding concepts that were carried out by MOhammed.
It is as much a part of Islam as anything else that exists, and it will be a struggle to deal with because of that fundamental construct, only if Islam does away with certain of it's teachings can the ISIS thing be dealt with.
